María Teresa Ramírez-Giraldo is an economist from Universidad de los Andes; where she also obtained an M.Sc in Economics. She also received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She works at the Colombian Central Bank as a Senior Research Economist. Her main research has been in the fields of economic growth, economic history and economic development. She is the author of several papers published in international and national books and journals, as well as book editor. She served as editor of the journal Ensayos sobre Política Económica. In addition, she has taught economic growth and economic history at Universidad de los Andes.
